public class J_Frame

extends java.awt.Frame

Extension to java.awt.Frame to make it work seamlessly with J_MenuBar. J_Frame automatically sets the menu bar to J_MenuBar's system-wide MenuBar, and handles re-setting of the MenuBar when the window is activated, de-iconified, etc.

Also provides a default off-screen "scratch" window, for various purposes (see the implementation of J_Choice for one use of this feature).

Otherwise, behaves just like java.awt.Frame.

get_scratch_frame

public static J_Frame get_scratch_frame()

Returns:

a reference to an off-screen (but "visible") J_Frame object. This is useful in many situations where it is convenient to draw a "visible" component that is nevertheless hidden from the user.

Note that this off-screen J_Frame is also the J_Frame responsible for maintaining a full MenuBar even when no windows are visible to the user. Therefore, changing the MenuBar of this window can have unpredictable results.
